Hi, bride! Planning a wedding is an exciting journey and, without a doubt, the wedding dress is one of the most anticipated and special aspects of this process. Today I want to talk to you about a choice that could make all the difference on your big day. With so many wedding dress styles available, how do you choose one that will reflect your personality and make you feel amazing on your big day? Don't worry! Let's explore all the steps together to choose between wedding dress styles. Today I'm going to help you with everything you need to know to choose the style of your dream dress.
1. Know your Body First of all, let's talk about something super important: your body. Everyone has a different body and finding dresses that flatter the features you like most about yourself is the secret to feeling confident and wonderful. Here we list important points that, depending on your objectives, will make you more assertive.
Lengthen the silhouette: For those who aim to lengthen the silhouette, in addition to exploring V-necklines and strategic applications, the slit is an element which helps to lengthen the legs and consequently, the silhouette. The slit also gives a modern and sensual look, as well as being an unusual element.
Lengthen your torso: Lengthening your torso may be your goal if you want to appear taller or have different proportions between it and your legs. It is important to highlight that, if your intention is to appear longer, the tricks to enlarge the torso must be combined with those to also lengthen the legs and the silhouette in general. Aiming for verticality is always a great way to make the shape longer. The V format is also excellent in this regard. Therefore, necklines, cuts, applications, fabrics and accessories, both V and vertical, are highly recommended. Another way to increase your torso is to wear a low waist. However, despite being a valid way to "correct" a short torso, this is not a good strategy for appearing taller, as a waist defined in this way tends to shorten the legs.
Enhance shoulders: Enhance shoulders is a great option for those who have a nice chest, narrow shoulders or for those who have wide hips and want to reduce them. An off-the-shoulder or boat neckline is always the first suggestion for this goal. Removable high sleeves or gloves also fulfill this role. Lace or fabrics with designs that resemble horizontal stripes used on tops with sleeves are another way to increase the shoulders.

Disguise the shoulders: For those who want to slim their shoulders, opting for a V-neck or vertical cuts is highly recommended. The same goes for lace or fabrics that have long shapes. Wear accessories like long earrings or a tie necklace too. Depending on the bride's goals, highlighting the hips is an interesting way to create a contrast and create a harmonious look.
Marking the waist: The waist is our smallest torso circumference. When we bring our attention exactly to this region, we are marking the waist in place. This can be an excellent strategy to enhance your curves and appear thinner.

Waist in place: In general, the waist marked in place is what most enhances the silhouette, and perhaps, for this reason, it is the one we currently find most in wedding dresses. Interesting ways to make this mark are using belts, sashes, waistbands and cutouts.
High waist: When we mark the waist above our smallest circumference, we call it a high waist. This type of marking shortens the torso and lengthens the legs. In the overall look, we have the feeling of being taller. However, we have to be careful because not marking the waist in place can create the impression of a wider waist. Interesting ways to emphasize a high waist are by wearing dresses with an empire silhouette or the combination of a high skirt + cropped top. Furthermore, this marking can be a good ally for pregnant women.

Low waist: Contrary to this, when we mark the waist below our smallest circumference, we lengthen the torso and shorten the legs, overall, this makes us appear shorter. This type of cutout is used by Disney princesses, in a more medieval look. It was also widely used in the 20s and 2000s. A good heel can be a great solution for those who want to wear a low waist without reducing their silhouette.
Lengthen legs: one of the best ways to have a longer silhouette is to lengthen your legs. Here we also use the rule that to make the shape longer we use vertical elements. Thus, embroidery, lace, applications and cutouts, vertically, in addition to the slit, are great ways to create the impression of longer legs. For this objective, it is also interesting to bet on the tail. Opt for a high waist or in place.

Enhance the hips: Fitted models accentuate the hips and consequently, the waist and the silhouette as a whole. They can be those fitted to the knee, which are called mermaid, or also less fitted, which we call semi mermaid. Placing elements such as lace on the hips draws attention to the region and therefore adds value as well. If you choose the mermaid model, also pay attention to the comfort of the dress, the more fitted it is, the less movement your legs have. In our studio we prefer the semi-mermaid silhouette.

Disguise the hips: for those who want to disguise their hips in some way, straight models already contribute to this effect. Placing elements such as lace and embroidery on the bust shifts the eye/attention to the region, making the hips less evident. In addition to straight models, those with fluid skirts are also recommended for those who want to hide their hips. The flared and A-line skirt models do not define the silhouette, only the waist, creating an effect of cinching and lightness at the hips. Remember, the most important thing is to feel comfortable and beautiful in your chosen wedding dress style. Each body is unique and deserves to be celebrated in the best way possible.
2. Get inspired!
Before heading out for your dress fittings, take some time to get inspired. Bridal magazines, wedding websites, Pinterest, Instagram, and T are great sources of inspiration. Create a folder or album with the wedding dress styles that catch your eye. This will help you identify patterns and preferences, as well as being a great reference to show to the stylists in our studio.
3. Define the Wedding Style
The style of your wedding directly influences the choice of wedding dress style. A beach wedding calls for a different dress than a wedding in a cathedral. Here are some wedding styles and the types of wedding dress styles that suit each:
Classic Wedding: If you are planning a traditional wedding, in a church or elegant hall, timeless wedding dress styles are a great suggestion. Hopefully it falls and higher necklines are good options. Think about thicker fabrics, they bring more grandeur.
Beach and Country Wedding: For a seaside wedding, opt for light and fluid wedding dress styles, with fabrics such as chiffon, muslin and organza. Models with less volume and simple details are perfect for this scenario. Thick minimalist models are also valid.
Modern Wedding: If your wedding will be urban and contemporary, wedding dress styles with clean, minimalist cuts and modern details such as geometric, asymmetrical necklines or structured fabrics are ideal.
4. Consider the Season
The season in which you are getting married is also an important factor when choosing a wedding dress style. A summer wedding calls for light, fresh fabrics, while a winter wedding allows for dresses with long sleeves and heavier fabrics.
Spring/Summer: Lightweight fabrics like chiffon, organza, muslin and tulle are perfect for keeping you cool and comfortable. Also consider drier models and fluid skirts.
Autumn/Winter: For weddings in colder seasons, fabrics such as satin, crepe and thick fabrics in general are great options. Wedding dress styles with long sleeves or adding an elegant cape can be both practical and glamorous. Adding a third piece like coats and slips can add personality to the look.
5. What to Do at Dress Fittings
Dress fittings are exciting and sometimes a little stressful times. Here are some tips to make the most of this experience:
Bring Someone You Trust: Bring people who know your style and whose judgment you trust. Avoid taking too many people, as too many opinions can cause confusion.
Be Open to New Possibilities: Sometimes the dress of your dreams may be different from what you imagined. Be open to trying different styles.
Pay Attention to Details: Notice how you feel in the dress, whether you can move easily and whether it flatters your best features.

If you love vintage dresses, why not incorporate this style into your wedding dress? If you prefer a more modern and clean look, opt for a minimalist design.
Romantic: If you love a romantic style, think about delicate wedding dress styles, curved lines, skirts with more volume and foliage or floral details.
Classic: For a more classic style, choose timeless wedding dress styles, with elegant cuts and noble fabrics.
Boho: For a boho look, opt for wedding dress styles with fluid cuts, light fabrics, ruffle details and textures.
Modern: If you have a modern style, look for wedding dress styles with geometric cuts, smooth fabrics and contemporary details.
8. Think about Comfort
Your wedding day will be long, and you want to feel comfortable from start to finish. Remember to consider the weight of the dress, ease of movement, and comfort level when choosing it. If possible, walk, sit and dance a little during the race to make sure you feel great throughout the celebration.
